Categories and Data Sheets

What Categories Do

Categories, subcategories and their data sheet templates

Categories sort the things people collect: from broad ones like coins or minerals down to a single series or set. They follow the catalogues, grading scales and scientific classifications that collectors and museums use, so that a record means the same to everyone who reads it.

Each category comes with a data sheet template: the fields an item of that kind records, such as the year, the mint mark or the condition. A subcategory has the fields of its parent and can add its own.

Choosing a Category

  1. Tap the category on a collection or item page (“Tap Here to Select Category” when none is set), or choose “Change Category” in the menu (three dots).
  2. Go through the categories. “Details” next to a category shows its description and data sheet template.
  3. Tap the category that fits: it is highlighted and a tick appears on its picture. Tap it again to take it away.
  4. Tap the tick button to save the change. In the collection wizard, continue with “Next” instead.
